About the Undergraduate Consulting Club

Who we are

The Undergraduate Consulting Club (UCC) at Georgia Tech is an organization of undergraduate students interested in pursuing careers in consulting. We are committed to providing firms with a pool of high-achieving, well-rounded candidates. Our recruitment is based on a highly competitive model where interested students submit applications and resumes, and an officer of the Executive Committee then interviews the selected candidates. With this model, we search for those candidates who have a genuine interest in consulting, understand the industry and aspire to develop a career in it.

Our Purpose

The purpose of the UCC is to:

1. Increase awareness of the consulting industry within the Georgia Tech community.

2. Equip students with the skill set required to succeed in entering the consulting industry.

3. Serve as the primary channel of communication between the Georgia Tech student body and firms in the consulting industry.

What we do

Throughout the year, the UCC holds a wide variety of events focused on reaching our purpose. General membership meetings are held on a bi-monthly basis, and they are hosted by consulting firms, members of the Executive Committee or other guest speakers with the purpose of developing members to be better candidates for consulting positions in the future.

Some of the UCC’s events are open to the entire Georgia Tech student body and some are open for the membership only. Examples of past events include: resume critiques, firm and/or industry informational sessions, case-study workshops, networking sessions, membership socials and the famous Consulting Career Expo (CCE), which began in year 2008 and was attended by more than 130 students and five major consulting firms.

All of our events have been possible due to the support and participation of firms such as Accenture, Amdocs Consulting Division, Bain & Company, Capgemini, Deloitte Consulting, Kurt Salmon Associates, McKinsey & Company, Stockamp & Associates, and The Boston Consulting Group. In addition, our alumni have received and accepted offers from several of the previously mentioned companies.

History

The UCC was chartered in Spring 2007. The founders of the organization were three undergraduate students: Anirudh Mathur (ISYE class of 2007), Rohit Zacharia (ME class of 2007) and Sumved Sharma (EE class of 2007). They saw a gap at Georgia Tech which needed to be filled to help students gain awareness of and make it into the prestigious field of consulting. Several consulting firms at information sessions would say that Georgia Tech students have the analytical abilities, but they lacked the soft skills and the ability to crack the case interview. They saw an opportunity to create an organization which could offer the support in building and refining these skills. Their ultimate mission for the UCC was to become the preferred channel for consulting firms to interact with Georgia Tech students.
